Blackout curtains on apartment building collapse
A massive collapse in a New York apartment building has killed at least two people and injured dozens more.
The building in Harlem collapsed Friday afternoon, trapping a man in a hallway, according to ABC affiliate WCBS.
The man, who was not identified, was trapped by the roof of the building when the structure came down.
The owner of the apartment building said the roof collapse is under investigation.
“We were not able to see the damage to the building, but there were structural components of the roof that collapsed,” said David Hirschman, the owner of St. John’s Home and Apartments.
The collapse was caused by a fire, but Hirschmen told NBC News the fire could have been sparked by a controlled demolition, but did not elaborate.
