Red shower curtain to go on sale in UK for £4,499
Business Insider UK article Red shower curtains are set to be a reality in the UK this Christmas, but they won’t be cheap.
The £4.99 (about $6.55 USD) price tag has prompted an online petition calling for the curtains to be sold on eBay for £2,799.
The petition claims that the curtains can “prevent the spread of disease” and is being launched to “save the life of one of our nation’s most vulnerable people.”
A spokesperson for eBay, who declined to comment, said they are aware of the petition and will look into it.
A spokesman for The Red Light Company told The Verge that the company has “received a number of complaints” about the red shower curtains.
He said that the red curtains are “an essential part of our customer experience and they provide an elegant, functional solution that’s perfect for the home.”
“The red curtain is a versatile solution that allows customers to easily access their TV, monitor and computer screens from a single location,” he added.
The curtains can be bought at retailers such as Amazon, as well as online for £1,899.
They’re not the only ones being sold for Christmas: The Red Water Company, which is part of the Red Light brand, is selling a “red curtain for the man or woman on the move” for just £1.49.
